All marine equipment should be regularly maintained and checked for signs of deterioration. The marine environment is particularly aggressive and if your strainer is not cleaned regularly it will affect the performance of your engine cooling system.
It is much simpler to maintain your strainer than repair and replace the heat exchanger or risk engine overheating and expensive repairs.
Simply clean out your basket and strainer regularly to ensure good water flow.
If the basket has been damaged or shows signs of deterioration, contact your nearest Arctic Steel agent for a replacement. A spare should be carried.
The gasket is made from durable silicone and should also be checked regularly for damage. It is important that the gasket is in good condition to prevent leaks and to prevent your engine from drawing air into the cooling system.
